CANCUN

Trip Snippets:

Airfare: We bought our flights on a deal for $260 RT out of Salt Lake City, on American Airlines.

Transportation: We like to use Viator.com for booking a lot of our activities/shuttles, so we booked one online for like $15, which gave us a private pickup at the airport and took us directly to our hotel. We didn’t rent a car for this trip because we were at an all-inclusive resort and didn’t need to leave. The only time we left was for other activities and since we booked those on Viator.com, the activity provider picked us up directly from our hotel.

Hotel: We stayed at The Royal Sands All-Inclusive resort. Since we used Chase Points, our three night stay cost use $52 total (pretty much all taxes/fees). If you’re paying with no points, I think it ranges from $200-300 per night. The resort itself was awesome, with endless poolside pina coladas and great food. This resort is also part of a franchise, so they provide free shuttles to all the other “sister-resorts” where your all-inclusive pass allows you the same access at any resort (minus another hotel room). So that means you get all the food, activities, etc. for free at all the other resorts as well. Which is pretty nice to get a change of scenery sometimes.

Food: The food at the resort was great. Lots of balance between types of food (american, italian, seafood, grills, cafes) and the big plus for me is that you can literally eat as much as you want and not get charged for it. It’s a beautiful feeling. It’s pretty much like a cruise on land, but the food quality is a little better.

Activities: We booked a couple activities on Viator.com. We explored the Cenotes (underground caves filled with water) where we hiked, swam and snorkeled in these beautiful caves. We also explored snorkeling in a beautiful reef where we saw giant sea turtles, and a lot of other incredible sea-life. There’s honestly so much to do in Cancun that you will have too many activities to choose from.
