Grenada

Trip Snippets:

Airfare: We bought tickets on a flight deal for $340 RT from Las Vegas to Grenada. Grenada is an island far in the south of the Caribbean. (Not to be confused with Granada, which is a city in Spain)

Transportation: We didn’t rent a car in Grenada due to a lot of the reviews we read beforehand. The driving there can be a bit hectic and if your rental car gets dented you can pay a hefty price. We instead opted to hire a personal driver through viator.com to pick us up from the airport. We also used the city “bus” for parts of the trip, which is actually just a van driven by the locals. We also visited Grenada’s sister island of Carriacou, which you have to travel to by Ferry. The ferry is well-maintained and the beautiful ride takes about 45 minutes.

Hotels: We stayed in an Airbnb for the first couple nights. There are lots of good options around the island. In Carriacou, we stayed at Bogles Round House. You will not regret your stay at this place. It is a small family- run cottage and restaurant. The woman who runs it is a renowned chef and makes the most incredible food for the restaurant each day. When we ventured back to the main Island of Grenada, we stayed at a resort called La Sagesse. This is one of the nicer resorts on the island (aside from the super-rich resorts), but the one thing it lacks is Air Conditioning. Don’t forget to factor this in when searching for a place to stay. It’s 100% worth it and you will suffer hardcore without it.

Food: Lots of great food to be found here. All the fresh seafood is incredible. Be sure to try the red snapper and other local fish. If you’re not into the fish. Most dishes will have passion fruit infused somehow, and also nutmeg.

Activities: Beach, eat, beach, kayak, beach, snorkel, and so on. The island is known for it’s spices, especially nutmeg. There are plenty of museums and historical sites to be seen. But our favorite activity was on Carriacou where the Bogles Cottages let us use their kayaks to paddle up the coast to a hidden and private cove. It’s literally untouched and only accessible by water or a long hike. We’ve made our way around the globe and this was the best bay/beach and coral reef we’ve ever explored.
