Italy

Trip Snippets:

Airfare: We bought our tickets on a sale for $506 RT from SLC to Milan, Italy. The flights were on American Airlines and provided great entertainment and food for the long flight.

Transportation: We rented a car, which we picked up from the airport. Definitely rent a small car if possible to save on gas and make parking easier. Also, don’t lose any paid parking stubs..it may end up costing you a fortune like it did for us.

Hotels: We stayed in a bunch of boutique hotels which we bought with Chase points. We only stayed in each hotel for one night before moving on to the next city/town.

Food: The food was good, but not incredible. The best part was the gelato and pastries (of course), but don’t be expecting super flavorful food choices. Lots of food in Italy is very basic and won’t have the same explosion of flavors you’re used to in the USA.

Activities: We bought tickets beforehand online (you have to do this) to see “The Last Supper” painting. It was incredible to see how they’ve preserved it over all these years. We saw the Duomo and other historical landmarks. There’s lots of great shopping, but be prepared to spend a pretty penny. In North-East taly, you MUST go see the Dolomite Mountains and the Pragser-Wildsee. It’s unbelievably beautiful, and you’ll also come across a small medieval-style town of Brixen. Complete cobblestone village and heaven all around.
